2 months
I can't believe that Caleb is already 2 months old.
Some updates on Caleb:
He had his 2 month appointment and received his immunization shots. He weighed 11 lbs. 2 oz. (He has almost doubled his birth weight!) And is 22.5 inches long. Short and fat. :) Matt is hoping he will start getting taller. Caleb adapted to the immunization shots well. They did make him sick and I will say that I am NOT looking forward to his 4 month shots. Caleb doesn't cry. He really doesn't. I don't think people believe me but he really doesn't. He has a very calm and patient temperament. However, when he is in pain... we have found that he definitely knows how to cry. It broke my heart to see him cry getting the shots. He received the shots on May 19th and cried during but really did well afterward. He slept well. I could tell that he didn't feel well though because he wasn't really himself. Thursday the 20th, in the evening he cried for about 30 minutes straight. Matt and I have never experienced this with Caleb. I think his legs were really sore. We gave him some tylenol and he did fine after that. He is always a little cuddle bug. BUT the last few days he is REALLY cuddly. He is eating better (about 3 ounces a feeding) and his fever has broken. I know immunization shots are important... but boy is it still hard!!
Caleb after the doctor's appointment. Exactly 2 months old. He has some beautiful, long eyelashes that are starting to turn darker.
Caleb is still able to wear his newborn clothes. Sometimes we put him in his 0-3 month clothes... which are a tad big. But the newborns are getting a tad small. He is right in between. Caleb has graduated to size 1 diapers. He gains weight like his mama... all in the cheeks. :) Although, he is looking more and more like his daddy. It is so much fun.
Caleb wearing one of his 0-3 month outfits that was given to us by some good friends. If you are wondering what he is staring at... it is the fan. :)
Caleb is now smiling inconsistently but still in response to us... or the ceiling, fan, or window. :)
He LOVES the fan in our bedroom.... even though it isn't moving. I think it is the contrast in colors. The dark brown on white. He will stare and stare at it. I think it is kind of cute because if he looks away, he will look right back at it to make sure it is still there then he will look away again. (He is really distracted by that fan when I am trying to feed him). He gets so conflicted. To look at the fan, or eat, to look at the fan, or eat. I help him out by blocking his vision to the fan and then he will choose eating. :)
Caleb is starting to coo and will laugh in his sleep. Too cute.
He is starting to hold his head up... but really only if he wants to. Or if there is motivation like to look at the fan. :)

We love the little man and are so proud of him growing so well.

Mark the day!
May 17th, 2010 Caleb gave me a RESPONSIVE smile. It was definitely on purpose. My mom has received smiles before... lucky duck. And I have received "I am trying to smile at you" type smiles. But this was a full on mouth open, eyes bright and wide smile. Melted my heart. These sweet smiles are not very consistent yet... but I am sure they will be soon! :)

My First Mother's Day
The other day Matt asked me what I wanted for Mother's Day. I told him that he could surprise me. He was surprised that I said that. He thought I would say "Oh nothing, we just bought a house, furniture, etc." I told him, oh no, this is my first mother's day it better be special. :) Did he EVER exceed that expectation.
I woke up on Sunday and started to get ready for church. After I got out of the shower Matt asked me if I would go get him some water. He had water on the nightstand so I said, "you have water right there." He replied with, "well, I want some fresh water." So I said okay. As I walked out of our room and into the kitchen I saw this adorable display of gifts that he made for me. I started to cry. So sweet! A stepping stone of Caleb's hands and feet (which I have been wanting) and a picture that my mom took that he framed. And is so perfect in our piano room. I couldn't have imagined or dreamed up better gifts!
And the best part of Mother's Day was spending it with my family. Thank you honey for going the extra mile to make me feel special. Love you honey.
Being a mother has brought a completely new meaning to my life.
So far, the joys that I have found being a mom are:
Watching my sweethearts sleep.
Holding my baby's hand.
Being up in the middle of the night, just Caleb and me.
Feeling a greater closeness to my mom... I think me becoming a mom took our relationship to a greater level. (And we need to take more pictures together if this was the only picture I could find of just me and her!)
Watching my little peanut grow into a little butterball.
Every part of motherhood is wonderful... from the poopy diapers to the moments where my baby gazes into my eyes and we know that we belong to each other. Being a mom is the greatest blessing and I am so grateful for my mom, Matt's moms, our grandmothers, great grandmothers, and so on that have set an example of what a GREAT mom is. Thank you for being wonderful, we love you! Happy Mother's Day!

A Blast from the Past
I was looking for some fun disney songs for Caleb to listen to while I was working and came across these. Disney from the 50's. My Papa Bishop has probably every video Disney ever created and I benefited from it growing up. Watching these brings back fond memories of being at my Grandparent Bishop's house. I showed Matt these and he hasn't ever seen them... but he is in the shower right now singing Zippidee-Do-Dah :)
So Sweet...
The other morning I walked out of the bathroom and found Matt and Caleb cuddling. Matt was fast asleep but Caleb was staring at him. It was so precious and of course my camera was dead so I took the picture with our phone. (Hence why the picture is blurry).
Thankfully the other night we were watching a movie and I looked over and saw Caleb staring at Matt again, so fun! (This time the camera was charged, so I was able to take a picture).
