Something I love about Matt is his perspective in life. He always manages to keep an eternal perspective.
We went to a birthing class... yikes... and on the way home I was stressing about the labor and delivery experience. Matt's response was, "after great tribulation, comes the blessing." Thanks honey for helping me have a better perspective. :)

Cook, Baby, Cook!
This past week I was experiencing some contractions. Thursday night they were so intense they were keeping me awake. Friday morning I called my doctor and he advised to go into labor and delivery. Which I did. Come to find out I was in labor and dilated. So they gave me some medicine to stop the contractions (which worked) and sent me home. I have a NST on Monday and they will also check my cervix again, then. It was pretty scary because baby Roberts needs to cook in the oven just a little bit longer. 5 more weeks, preferably. :) It was an eye opener in two ways:
1. I realized I am so not prepared. (Mentally, of course, but more so physically). I have packing, cleaning, organizing to do. So it has put me into full gear to become more prepared.
2. I realized the symptoms of heartburn are not so bad. They are the appropriate symptoms I should be having... not contractions. Those symptoms need to come later.
We are so grateful that they were able to stop the labor and all is well. We are surprised that the doctor didn't put me on bed rest (which we are glad he didn't). He just advised to take it more easy. There is so much preparation to do though! :)

My Special Valentine
My pregnant hormones are making my body think it is 13 again. Quite frankly, I didn't like being 13. Here is a picture of when I was 13... does this face look like a happy 13 year old? And look at my mom's face... having to deal with that 13 year old!

Crying over nothing, being overly sensitive, and having acne problems... who WOULD like 13? And who knew I would have to re-live it? Couldn't have someone warned me? I mean, come on! I have had so many warnings from breast feeding, the sleepless nights, delivery, being pooped and peed on... couldn't a flashback to 13 have been a warning too? Well, it is too late now. I am in full throttle of re-living the wonderful joys of being 13.
Thankfully, just as my parents were there to practice patience and be there for me when I was (REALLY) 13, they are here for me now (when I just FEEL 13). My mom knew (just as she always does) the right remedies to help me feel better. She treated me to a shopping spree to Kohls. Because when you are feeling uglier than ugly, a new shirt and jewelry will always be the right fix! My dad and her treated me and Matt to Blue Hashi. Yummy (and expensive- might I add) sushi. Matt never had it before. (He is still deciding on if he likes it or not). She also gave me a special nurses back rub. (They are the best). AND she colored my hair for me. I told Matt that this year he would have to find his own valentine because this year, mine was my mom.

Since, I don't know how to post a slide show (yet) here are some pictures to look at while listening to this song. :)

We WON???
Yesterday, Matt and I received a call saying we had won a Valentine's Day package from our apartment complex. We were so excited because neither one of us are the "lucky" kind of people where we win things. The more we talked about it, we figured WHY we won. Matt entered us in. Once for him. Once for me. And I entered myself in (I didn't know he already had). So, our names were in there a few times. Woops! But hey! We are excited to have won this cute little package... whether it was by cheating or not. :)
It contained: chocolates, candles, bath salt, sparkling cider, champagne glasses, the movie - The Notebook, and a $15 gift card to Wal-Mart.
Here are some pictures of it:

Such a Good Friend
My friend Rebekah invited me to come over to do nails. I was really excited about this because both fingers and toes needed to be done desperately. I figured my fingers could wait so I was just going to do my toes. Little did I know, Rebekah was planning on painting my fingers for me. And I was planning on doing my own toes... but she did my toes too!! SO NICE! I felt so pampered! Rebekah is one of those people that when you leave you always feel uplifted and better about yourself. It is a gift that she has and I am so glad that we are friends!

Induction Date
Since I am 38 weeks on March 24th, I asked Dr. Leavitt if I could be induced on the 25th. (My dad's birthday). He said that if I can make it to 38 weeks then that is no problem. So, we scheduled our induction date at EIRMC on March 25th, 2010 at 7 AM!! And if needed (which we are not going to count on) we can move it up for emergency purposes. We are really excited about Caleb's arrival. And hey! we were taking bets on whose birthday I would have him on (we have a lot of birthdays in March and April) and it looks like it will be on my dad's. :) We hope :)

My moment of complaining....
Anyone who knows me knows that if I have a great experience at a store, restaurant, any business that I LOVE to share that experience. BUT I will also share the experience if it isn't so great. So here are my two not so great experiences...so choose to do business with these companies if you may... but don't say I didn't warn you.
1. Matt, Texas mama, and me went to the mall to look for baby items. We were walking into Sears and I passed by the Blue Bunny ice cream stand... yum, I thought. After we left Sears, I decided I needed a scoop of that delicious looking treat. I requested a scoop of Rocky Road (one of my favorites). The pleasant owner (I am assuming) scooped me a small scoop put it in this medium-large size cup, rung me up, and the total came to $3.00!!! I looked inside this empty cup at my hardly of a scoop ice cream and said "are you kidding? that's it? And for $3.00??" He confidently replied with that HIS ice cream was the cheapest in town. He does comparisons with other ice cream shops and THEY had the best price. YEA RIGHT!!! He is talking to the queen of ice cream and I KNOW that I can get 3 times as much of ice cream at sub-zero AND cold-stone for the same price. 3 TIMES AS MUCH!!! He denied it up and down. I was about to give him back the cup of drop of ice cream and tell him never mind but I didn't want to embarrass my mother-in-law. So, we reluctantly paid the $3.00 and I took my bite of ice cream. You better believe I made sure to enjoy that most expensive bite of ice cream. (And really, that is all about it was, was a bite). Now I know... if I want more ice cream for a better price I will go to a different ice cream parlor. OR... if I have enough patience, go buy an entire gallon of ice cream from the grocery store and have my husband scoop me some ice cream. (Since, I hate that part).

2. Sadly, we took Matt's mom to the airport early this morning (I will post pictures later of her trip) to take the shuttle to Salt Lake City. We hated to see her go. It was so wonderful to have her here. At any rate, she insisted to take the shuttle instead of us taking her to Salt Lake. She had an okay experience on the shuttle from SLC to Idaho Falls, so she figured her trip back to SLC would be just fine. If we knew what was in store for her, we would have NEVER let her on that shuttle. First off, the shuttle was 20 minutes late. AND second off, the shuttle's heater didn't work. THAT'S RIGHT! The heater didn't work!!! Who owns a business of shuttling people around... relying on your vehicles to give you business and your heater doesn't work in IDAHO in the middle of WINTER!!! We are so angry about it. We are going to be sure to complain to the Salt Lake Express, so we will see if they do anything about this situation (I will keep you posted). So my poor Texas mama, hard to leave in the first place and has to ride 4 hours in a freezing, no heater working shuttle!! Could they NOT use a different shuttle??? I mean, come on here!

To be said... Eat Blue Bunny ice cream and ride the Salt Lake Express at your own risk!

Baby Shower!

What the baby shower consisted of:
1. Yummy food made by my Texas mama (Matt's mom).
2. Adorable decorations and invitations by my mama.
3. Fun games that kept us all entertained, thanks to Sariah - my sister.
4. Loving friends and family that made the party the best shower ever.
5. A lot of cute, fuzzy, warm, soft, baby items that I can't WAIT to use!!
Thank you to everyone who was able to come to my baby shower! It was a lot of fun and it meant a lot to me to have all of the support and love!

New Due Date
So this is the biggest news (for me) as of lately. It isn't a surprise to many... but it was to me.
A risk in my pregnancy (among many) is having to have the baby early because of my kidney not working like it should. Well, I had a doctor's appointment just last week and I was told that he (the doctor) is expecting me to go full term. Exciting news, right? WELL... yesterday I had another doctor's appointment and at the end of the appointment I asked him if he would be here around my due date. With confidence he said yes. He said that we was going on vacation the last week of March and the first week of April. UM MY DUE DATE!!! APRIL 7th!!! With a nonchalant attitude, he said "Oh, well, we are not going to let you go past 38 weeks. You can bank on having that baby at 37 - 38 weeks, if not earlier." So, of course, I asked why? And he said that it is important to take out the baby as soon as it is safe to save my kidney. So, then I asked, "well, what if my kidney is continuing to do good, can we wait?" His response surprisingly, was "your kidney isn't doing good." It ISN'T??? Just last week no one was worried about my kidney. So confused. The Dr. proceeded to tell me about how at about 37 weeks we will do a procedure called Amniocentesis. (A procedure where they take a needle through my belly into the uterus and take about an ounce of amniotic fluid to test to see if the baby's lungs are developed enough to deliver him). Can I just say YIKES!!! (I then started to cry, I am scared enough of labor and delivery). Of course, he said "it is worse than it sounds." YEA! BUT I AM THE ONE HAVING TO DO IT!!! I love it when men say "oh it wont be that bad." Yea, not for them... they don't have to do it. So, I then asked what he would do if the baby's lungs were not developed enough, if he would give me a shot to help develop the baby's lungs. His response, "Oh! Have we not done that yet?" Um... no? Next thing I know, I am in Labor and Delivery at EIRMC getting a steroid shot to help develop the baby's lungs. I have to go again today for my second dose. Oh, did I add that shot is in your hip? And that not only does it hurt while getting the shot... it hurts for the rest of the day! My leg ached for hours after that shot. Matt's sympathetic and supportive comment to me was, "Thanks for taking one in the butt for me." Ha! One for him and one for Caleb (which yes that is the name we have decided on for the baby... now onto the middle name).
I am so grateful for technology and that I live in these times that with all of my complications and risks, I can have a healthy baby and that I can be healthy too. But I will admit, yesterday was an emotional day. This was probably in the Dr.'s plan all along and I just didn't know it. Well, now I do. So, the new due date is March 24th, 2010.

Matt's Hair
Ice Cream at 6 AM?
I was up the majority of the night last night with heartburn. I usually get a little bit of heartburn when I first go to bed but I end up sleeping it off. But last night, there was no sleeping it off! When Matt got up for work at 4:45 this morning, I got up too and decided maybe trying to sleep sitting up would help. Nope. So after watching some news and craft shows on the TV, 6:00 rolled around and with zero heartburn medicine in the apartment I resorted to ice cream. I thought if anything the cold would feel good. It did feel and taste good. :) Killed two birds with one stone! And since I felt like it, I took pictures of my ice cream and of me eating it (a lovely picture, I might add). :) If I look like death it is because 1. I am pregnant. and 2. I was having HEARTBURN! ok ok and 3. I just got up. :)
