Our First Year Anniversary

Happy Anniversary to us! Today marks one year! Since it is Sunday we celebrated it yesterday. We went out to eat at IHOP... YUM, we went shopping, went out to dinner at a yummy Mandarin restaurant and Matt surprised me with tickets to a concert with Jenny Oaks Baker. Amazing violinist. He is so sweet. Concerts are not his thing. I asked him if he would have rather watched the BYU game and he said yea. BUT he knew that I would rather go to the concert. awww so sweet. Here are some pictures from our night...Top 11 things we have learned in the past year about each other and marriage....

1. Communication really is key. Boys and girls think so differently!

2. Getting out of debt is the best thing ever! (When you are about to pay off all of your debt... a temptation rises and you get back into it. We have stayed strong though and we are out!). Hurray!

3. Praying and reading the scriptures together every day is crucial... but harder than we thought it would be! Dang adversary!

4. Meeting eachother's needs is better than meeting your own.

5. Matt really is the most patient person alive.

6. When you are obedient, blessings come and everything falls into place... even if you had NO clue how they would!

7. It is so much better to go through trials married than single.

8. We both have the best in-laws EVER!

9. Finding good GOOD friends is rare and critical! (But we have been very successful!)

10. Matt loves to help decorate (of course, he is his Mother's child) BUT hates to go shopping for decorations... apparently I am too indecisive! :)

11. People always warned us that the first year is the hardest year... we feel that IF this past year was the hardest year then the rest of our marriage is going to be a cake walk! Hard times have come up but because having a foundation of the gospel and faith in Jesus Christ the hard times didn't seem as bad. We have learned as we stay close to the Spirit we understand each other better, are able to communicate more effectively, and ultimately end up on the same page with every situation. Let's face it... Matt is so easy-going, faithful, patient, and amazing that it really is easy to be married to him. Now, if he wrote this blog it would probably say the complete opposite. I am not so easy, HA, especially since I have been pregnant. I AM MAKING A BABY HERE! Leave me alone! :)

As we have started this list we have realized that we really have learned a lot our first year. This list could go on and on. I am excited for the years to come, the growth that we will continually have, and what we will continue to learn.

Well... after living in our apartment for 5 months we finally decided to take pictures of where we are living. Sorry it took us so long! And sorry the pictures are not quality. hey! I am not a photographer here! :)

Maturnity Clothes...

So what is up with stores ONLY creating maternity clothes for small, normal, to large women? What about the petite... x-small? Sure there are x-small maternity pants out there... if you want to pay $60 for them! $60 for a pair of pants that I am only going to wear for a short time? Forget it.

I grew over night. I woke up the other morning, got ready for work. Went to go put on my suit pants... that fit me not 2 days before and would they zip up? NOPE. Button up? NOPE. So what do I do in this crisis? Call my husband at work.... frantically. Crying and upset, I explain on the phone to Matt "My pants don't fit and we can't find any pants that do fit." Calmly he responds with, "well, we will look online and if we can't find any there we will go to Salt Lake." I agreed and hung up the phone. I decided to wear a dress. Hoping my boss would be understanding of me not wearing a suit. As I drove to work, the tears started to flow again. No particular reason... except, seeing that young boy walking to school in the cold without a coat on DIDN'T help! I got to work and one of the gals complimented my dress... and the tears started to flow again. Oh how I love the hormones! Who knew growing out of your pants could be so traumatizing!

I have had lots of advice about bella bands etc. So I will have to try those. Idaho Falls just does not cater to the petite. Devils.

On a lighter note, I am healthy and so is the baby... oh yea so is Matt. :)

Moms are so great

So after posting my cravings blog my mom was busy at work.

She made home made bread.
She made home made vegetable soup... like Grandmama Bishops. So yummy.
Her and my dad bought Matt and I a microwave.
She made us at least 5 or 6 freezer meals so I can just pop in the oven and have a delicious dinner.
We are being so spoiled!
