The Life of Just Me and Matt
Today I have been almost... mourning over the life of just me and Matt. Matt isn't experiencing this same mourning feeling as me. He sees the baby as a bonus and something necessary for our relationship. I COMPLETELY agree. So, maybe it is my hormones? Either way, I can't help but think about how it will NEVER be just me and Matt again. From Thursday on out we will have this adorable, sweet spirit (which I am so grateful and anxious for) that will change our lives forever. For the better, I know. With that said, I thought I would dedicate a post for the life of just me and Matt.
The top memories that have come to mind today (there are a lot of great memories... but these are the top for the day).
1. The way I would feel when I could see him during his lunch break when he was working at Jone's Paint and Glass in St. George, UT... he would be sweaty, hair wild and crazy, unshaven, stinky, work pants that were dirty and had different leg lengths (Matt's sewing skills) and yet, my heart would pitter patter and I couldn't get enough of him.
2. One of our first dates. Climbing Angel's Landing at Zions National Park. I was (still am) TERRIFIED of heights, yet, I still climbed this insanely steep rock for him. And all I can really remember is not how scared I was but how patient and encouraging Matt was. (my "Bachelor" moment: who knew it was the first of many situations he would be patient and encouraging for). Should I mention that this date is where we both knew we were falling for each other? Awww. :)
(By the way, if you are wondering what a "Bachelor" moment is... it is so typical for ABC's Bachelor TV show to have a date where they have to conquer a fear together and then they relate it to real life. "Taking a leap of faith in love" = bungy jumping. etc).
3. The first time I saw Matt when he got home from his mission and how everything was back to normal... mmmm not normal... better than normal. :) We had dinner at my Aunt Sheila and Uncle Mike's house and Matt and I could barely eat. We were so giggly because we were so excited to be back together. Of course, Uncle Mike made fun of us. A completely valid situation to make fun of.

(This memory brings a lot of comfort. I remember before Matt left for South Africa, I had a lot of worries about how our relationship would change. Because we were doing the Lord's will, I feel, our relationship was blessed and was better than the 2 years before. So this makes me believe that even though I have worries about how a new baby will change our relationship, because we are doing the Lord's will, I am confident, our relationship will be blessed and will be better than it was before the baby came).
4. When I came home from an eyebrow waxing job gone bad, crying, Matt instead of saying "they are just eyebrows! they will grow back!" he hugged me and encouraged me to do it myself next time. So sweet. :)

We have had a lot of GREAT memories in the life of just me and Matt... but we are ready for the memories that will come from the life of me, Matt and Caleb. I have a feeling those memories will be even more wonderful. So, even though I will be saying goodbye to this life, I am welcoming the new one with open arms and gratitude. And Matt is right... Caleb is a bonus. :) Things will only get better and better from here! Maybe harder :) but much better!!

The funny things in life...
On Sunday, Matt and I got home from church and Matt said that he was fighting a headache. He mentioned that maybe it was stemming from his neck. While he was talking, I was in the kitchen making us a little lunch. When I looked over this is what I saw and I about died laughing.

Matt took my heating pad (that is meant for my back. It wraps around and velcros so that it will stay in one place) and wrapped it around his neck... a few times... plugged himself into the wall and relaxed. As I was cracking up I looked over and I saw the cord stretched out and it was going from one room into the bathroom. He thought he was so mobile with this heating pad around his neck. Not only was it so funny to look at him with this heating pad around his neck but it was even more funny that he went into the bathroom with it. I wanted to take a picture... but since it probably isn't the most appropriate, I didn't. I don't think I have laughed so hard in my life!
